It operates under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. Located in Kochi, Kerala, CSL plays a crucial role in strengthening India’s maritime infrastructure, naval strength, and shipbuilding capabilities. Eligibility / Education Qualification
Welder Cum Fitter (Welder/Welder-Gas & Electric)	SSLC pass with ITI (National Trade Certificate) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Welder/Welder (Gas & Electric). Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in gas cutting, welding (manual/automatic/MIG), brazing, gouging, flame heating, chipping, grinding, staging and handling in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Welder Cum Fitter (Sheet Metal Worker)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Sheet Metal Worker. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in structural work using bending, shearing machines, hydraulic presses or maintenance of cranes, compressors and pneumatic tools in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Welder Cum Fitter (Fitter)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Fitter. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Welder Cum Fitter (Plumber)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Plumber/Pipe Fitter. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as Pipe Fitter including cutting, bending, fabrication, welding, pressure testing and surface treatment in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Welder Cum Fitter (Mechanic Motor Vehicle)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Mechanic Motor Vehicle. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in erection, repair and maintenance of pumps, generators, compressors, marine engines and power station auxiliaries in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Welder Cum Fitter (Mechanic Diesel)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Mechanic Diesel. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in erection, repair and maintenance of pumps, generators, compressors, marine engines and power station auxiliaries in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Machinist	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Machinist. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience operating machine tools such as lathe, milling and turning machines in Shipyard or Engineering Company.
Fitter (Electrical)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrician. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in substation operation, HT/LT switchgear installation, transformer operation and electrical equipment maintenance in Shipbuilding/Engineering/Electricity generation or distribution companies.
Fitter (Electronics)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Electronic Mechanic. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in repair and maintenance of electronic control circuits of industrial equipment in Shipyard/Engineering/Manufacturing/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Crane Operator (Electrical)	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Electrician/Electronic Mechanic/Instrument Mechanic. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in operating EOT cranes in Shipbuilding/Ship repair yard or Engineering Company.
Instrument Mechanic	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Instrument Mechanic. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in repair and maintenance of pneumatic, electric and hydraulic control systems, gauges, regulators and heating equipment in Shipyard or Engineering Company.
Shipwright Wood	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Shipwright Wood (Carpenter). Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as Carpenter in Shipyard/Engineering/Government/Semi-Government establishments.
Painter	SSLC pass with ITI (NTC) and National Apprenticeship Certificate in Painter (Marine/General)/Fitter/Sheet Metal Worker. Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience as Marine Painter in Shipbuilding/Ship repair yard or Engineering Company.

Selection Procedure
Phase I – Objective Type Online Test	Phase I consists of an objective type online test carrying 30 marks with a duration of 35 minutes. The test includes two parts: Part A (General Knowledge – 5 questions, Quantitative Aptitude – 5 questions) and Part B (Trade Related – 20 questions). Each question carries 1 mark and there is no negative marking.
Phase I Shortlisting	Post-wise merit lists will be prepared based on marks secured in the Objective Type Online Test. Candidates securing minimum qualifying marks and fulfilling eligibility conditions will be shortlisted for Certificate Verification. Candidates will be called in a minimum ratio of 1:6 against vacancies as per merit and reservation.
Certificate Verification	Shortlisted candidates from Phase I will be called for verification of original certificates. Only candidates successfully completing certificate verification will be eligible for Phase II.
Phase II – Practical Test	Phase II consists of a Practical Test in the relevant trade carrying 70 marks. The Practical Test will be conducted at CSL, Kochi. Phase II will be conducted even if the number of eligible candidates is less than the 1:6 ratio.
Minimum Qualifying Marks	Minimum qualifying marks in each phase are: UR/EWS – 50% of total marks of each test; OBC – 45% of total marks of each test (for OBC reserved vacancies); SC/ST – 40% of total marks of each test (for SC/ST reserved vacancies).
Final Selection	Final selection will be based on combined performance in Phase I Objective Test and Phase II Practical Test, subject to reservation rules and successful certificate verification.
