Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board (GSSSB) has released Advertisement No. 455/2026-27 for direct recruitment to 22 Sanitary Inspector, Class-3 posts under the Health and Family Welfare Department. Eligible candidates with Higher Secondary qualification along with the prescribed Health Sanitary Inspector Diploma or certificate course can apply online through the OJAS Gujarat portal. Candidates must also possess basic computer knowledge and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both. The online application process will begin on 17 August 2026 at 14:00 hours and the last date to apply is 31 August 2026 at 23:59 hours. Candidates must be Indian citizens or possess nationality as prescribed under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967. The candidate must be at least 18 years old and not more than 33 years old as on 31 August 2026, subject to applicable age relaxation. Candidates must have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government and must possess either a minimum one-year Health Sanitary Inspector Diploma course from a Government-recognized educational institute or a minimum one-year Health Sanitary Inspector certificate course from a Government-recognized Industrial Training Institute or educational institute. The competitive examination will be conducted in one stage through MCQ-based CBRT/OMR mode and will consist of Part-A and Part-B. Part-A carries 90 marks and includes Reasoning Tests and Data Interpretation, Mathematical Tests, and Indian Constitution, Current Affairs, Gujarati and English Comprehension. Part-B carries 120 marks and contains questions related to the concerned subject and its application. The examination contains 210 questions in total and has a combined duration of 3 hours. There is negative marking of one-fourth of the marks assigned to a question for every wrong answer.

GSSSB has announced 22 vacancies for Sanitary Inspector, Class-3 under the Health and Family Welfare Department, Office of the Additional Director, Medical Education and Research, Gandhinagar. The category-wise distribution is 10 Unreserved, 2 EWS, 1 SC, 3 ST and 6 SEBC vacancies. The notification also provides horizontal reservation provisions for women and ex-servicemen. The PwD reservation vacancies will be advertised separately under a special recruitment drive.

Selection will be based on the competitive written examination conducted through CBRT/OMR mode. Candidates must meet the independent minimum qualifying standard of 40% in both Part-A and Part-B. After the provisional result, approximately twice the number of candidates against the category-wise vacancies will be called for certificate verification based on merit. The final selection and waiting lists will then be prepared according to merit and category-wise vacancies. Selected candidates will be recommended to the concerned Government department for appointment and will be required to undergo prescribed training and pass the training examination.

Selected candidates will initially be appointed for the first five years on a fixed salary of ₹26,000 per month as per the applicable Gujarat Government resolutions and will receive other admissible benefits. After completion of five years, subject to satisfactory service and applicable conditions, candidates will be eligible for regular appointment in the Level-4 pay scale of ₹25,500 to ₹81,100 under the Seventh Pay Commission.

The examination fee for GSSSB direct recruitment examinations is ₹500 for candidates belonging to the Unreserved category and ₹400 for reserved-category candidates, including all category women candidates, SEBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD and Ex-Servicemen candidates. The examination fee must be paid online. Candidates who appear in the examination are eligible for refund of the examination fee through the same payment mode, while candidates who do not appear are not eligible for refund.
