Alternatively, candidates may possess SSC/10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks with 02 years full-time experience as an apprentice trainee from a recognized institution in the relevant trade, or 03 years of relevant work experience in a Ministry, Department, Organization, Public Sector Undertaking, Autonomous Body under Government of India, or State/UT. The prescribed qualification and experience must relate to the respective Technician trade.

The CSIR Technician (1) recruitment written examination will be OMR-based or Computer Based and objective-type multiple choice. The examination will contain 150 questions and will have a total duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. Paper-I will contain 50 Mental Ability questions for 100 marks with no negative marking. Paper-II will contain 25 General Awareness and 25 English Language questions, carrying 75 marks each, with one negative mark for every wrong answer. Paper-III will contain 50 questions from the concerned subject/trade carrying 150 marks, with one negative mark for every wrong answer.

CSIR has announced 43 Technician (1) vacancies in Group-C, Pay Matrix Level-2. The vacancies comprise UR-19, OBC (NCL)-11, SC-06, ST-03 and EWS-04. Two posts are reserved for PwBD candidates and four posts are reserved horizontally for Ex-Servicemen. The advertised trades are Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA), Desktop Publishing Operator (DTPO), Computer Hardware & Network Maintenance (CH&NM), Medical Lab Technician (MLT), Draughtsman (Architecture), Instrument Mechanic, Draughtsman (Mechanical), Draughtsman (Civil), Laboratory Assistant in Chemical Plant (LACP) and Interior Designer.

Technician (1) is a Group-C post carrying Pay Matrix Level-2 with a basic pay scale of โน19,900 to โน63,200. The post also carries applicable Central Government allowances such as HRA and Travelling Allowance and other benefits including Leave Travel Concession, reimbursement of medical expenses and Children's Education Allowance as per CSIR rules. New entrants will be governed by the National Pension System (NPS).
