National Informatics Centre (NIC), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India has invited applications for recruitment to the post of Scientific/Technical Assistant-A on Direct Recruitment basis. The post is a Group-B S&T non-Gazetted position in Level-6 of the 7th CPC. A total of 376 vacancies are available in Computer Sciences & Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. Merit lists will be prepared using valid GATE scores of 2024, 2025 or 2026.

There is no separate written examination conducted by NIC. Category-wise merit lists will be prepared for each discipline based on GATE 2024/2025/2026 score. Equal weightage is given to GATE scores of all three years. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification.

| Stage 1 | Candidates fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria and successfully registering their application on the NIC portal will be considered for selection. |
| Stage 2 | Category-wise merit list will be prepared separately for each discipline in the order of GATE score. |
| Stage 3 | Equal weightage will be given to GATE 2024, GATE 2025 and GATE 2026 scores. |
| Stage 4 | Candidates shortlisted according to vacancies will be called for document verification. |
| Stage 5 | Candidates must appear for document verification with all original documents at the specified date, time and place. |
| Final Selection | After successful document verification and fulfilment of all eligibility conditions, candidates will be offered provisional appointment. |
Selection will be based on the prescribed eligibility criteria and GATE score. Category-wise merit lists will be prepared for each discipline. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification and eligible candidates will thereafter be offered provisional appointment.
