Candidates must be Indian citizens, at least 18 years old and medically fit as per the Apprentices Act, 1961. Candidates must possess the prescribed full-time regular ITI, Diploma or Graduate qualification from a recognized institute/university and must have passed the final examination within two years from the closing date of application, i.e. between 11 September 2024 and 10 September 2026. Candidates awaiting final examination results, candidates who have undergone or are undergoing apprenticeship training in any organization, and candidates having more than one year of job experience are not eligible. Part-time, correspondence, distance and online qualifications are not accepted.

There is no written examination or interview for POWERGRID Apprenticeship Recruitment 2026. Applications are screened in merit order based on the prescribed qualification, eligibility criteria and available training slots. Shortlisted candidates are called for document/certificate verification in a 1:5 ratio against the available training slots. A final merit list is prepared from candidates found suitable during document verification.

POWERGRID Northern Region-I has notified 35 apprenticeship training slots across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The trades include ITI Electrician, Diploma Electrical, Diploma Civil, Graduate Electrical and Graduate Civil. Delhi has 8 slots, Haryana 16 slots, Uttar Pradesh 6 slots and Uttarakhand 5 slots.

Selection is based on merit and eligibility criteria without any written examination or interview. Applications are screened in merit order according to the prescribed qualification and number of training slots. Shortlisted candidates are called for document verification in a 1:5 ratio. A merit list is prepared from candidates found suitable during verification. Final engagement is made in merit order after acceptance of the tripartite apprenticeship contract on the NATS/NAPS portal, submission of the prescribed medical certificate and police verification.

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend of ₹13,500 for ITI Electrician, ₹15,000 for Diploma Electrical and Diploma Civil, and ₹17,500 for Graduate Electrical and Graduate Civil. The Diploma stipend includes ₹5,450 Government of India DBT under the NATS scheme, while the Graduate stipend includes ₹6,150 DBT. An additional ₹2,500 per month is payable where company accommodation is not provided or availed.

There is no application fee for POWERGRID Apprenticeship Recruitment 2026. Applications are submitted online through the official POWERGRID website after registration on NAPS/NATS.

Candidates must apply for only one region/state of their choice. Candidates submitting multiple applications or applying for more than one region/state/trade will be rejected. Applicants must first register on NAPS for ITI Electrician or NATS for Degree/Diploma Engineering and complete their profile before applying through the POWERGRID website. Candidates must have an Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled bank account. The apprenticeship is for one year only and cannot be extended. Completion of apprenticeship does not create any right to employment with POWERGRID.

Candidates must provide NAPS/NATS registration or enrolment number with a 100% completed profile, educational certificates and marksheets, proof of age, applicable SC/ST/OBC-NCL certificate, DBT-enabled bank account details through cancelled cheque or first page of passbook, recent colour passport-size photograph and signature, and prescribed disability certificate for PwBD candidates.
