SSC CHSL Recruitment 2026-Apply for 2500+ Posts
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2026 for recruitment to various Group C posts in Government of India Ministries, Departments, Offices and other participating organizations. Approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies have been announced for Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade A posts. Candidates who have passed Class 12th or an equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University can apply, while specific DEO posts require 12th Science with Mathematics as a subject. The SSC CHSL 2026 selection process comprises Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations, followed by qualifying Skill Test/Typing Test requirements for the applicable posts. SSC has invited online applications for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination 2026 for recruitment to Group C posts including Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Data Entry Operator Grade A in various Ministries, Departments, Offices and Government organizations. Candidates applying for LDC/JSA and most DEO/DEO Grade A posts must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University. For DEO/DEO Grade A posts in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Staff Selection Commission and Ministry of Culture, candidates must have passed 12th Standard in the Science stream with Mathematics as a subject. SSC CHSL 2026 selection consists of Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations. Tier-I has four objective sections—English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness—with 25 questions and 50 marks in each section, for a total of 100 questions and 200 marks in 60 minutes. Tier-II is conducted in two sessions and consists of Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test. Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II together carry 360 marks, while the Computer Knowledge Test and Skill/Typing Test are qualifying in nature. There is negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer in Tier-I and 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Examination 2026 has announced approximately 2,536 tentative vacancies for Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Data Entry Operator Grade A posts. The final number of vacancies will be determined after scrutiny and confirmation by the participating Ministries, Departments and Organizations. Post-wise and category-wise updated vacancies will be published by SSC on its website in due course.

Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II on the basis of their performance in Tier-I using normalized scores. All candidates qualifying Tier-I must appear in all four sections of Tier-II and must qualify every section. The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test are qualifying in nature. The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV and the prescribed post preferences. Final post and department allocation is made on the basis of merit-cum-preference.

The SSC CHSL posts carry different pay levels. Lower Divisional Clerk/Junior Secretariat Assistant is placed in Pay Level-2 with a pay scale of ₹19,900–₹63,200. Data Entry Operator is placed in Pay Level-4 with ₹25,500–₹81,100 or Pay Level-5 with ₹29,200–₹92,300, depending on the post/department. Data Entry Operator Grade A is placed in Pay Level-4 with ₹25,500–₹81,100.

The application fee is ₹100. Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities and eligible Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from payment of the application fee. The fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or Visa, MasterCard, Maestro and RuPay Debit Cards.
