Applicable relaxation is available for SC/ST, OBC, PwBD, ESM, Central Government Civilian Employees, widows/divorced women and other eligible categories as prescribed.
Nationality / CitizenshipCandidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India, subject to the prescribed Government of India eligibility certificate wherever required.
Educational Qualification Cut-OffThe result of the required educational qualification must have been declared by the Board/University on or before 07 October 2026. Mere processing of the result by the cut-off date does not fulfill the educational qualification requirement.

SSC CHSL 2026 selection consists of Tier-I and Tier-II Computer Based Examinations. Tier-I has four objective sections—English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness—with 25 questions and 50 marks in each section, for a total of 100 questions and 200 marks in 60 minutes. Tier-II is conducted in two sessions and consists of Mathematical Abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English Language and Comprehension, General Awareness, Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test. Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II together carry 360 marks, while the Computer Knowledge Test and Skill/Typing Test are qualifying in nature. There is negative marking of 0.50 marks per wrong answer in Tier-I and 1 mark per wrong answer in Sections I, II and III of Tier-II.

Tier-II Computer Based ExaminationTier-II is conducted in two sessions on the same day. Final MeritFinal merit is prepared on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV and fulfillment of all applicable requirements.
Final Post AllocationPosts and departments are allotted on the basis of overall Tier-II performance and the post/department preferences submitted by the candidates. Preferences once submitted are final and irreversible.

Candidates are shortlisted for Tier-II on the basis of their performance in Tier-I using normalized scores. All candidates qualifying Tier-I must appear in all four sections of Tier-II and must qualify every section. The Computer Knowledge Test and Skill Test/Typing Test are qualifying in nature. The final merit list is prepared solely on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in Section-I and Section-II of Tier-II, subject to qualifying Section-III and Section-IV and the prescribed post preferences. Final post and department allocation is made on the basis of merit-cum-preference.
