For Livestock Extension Officer, candidates must have passed Intermediate with Biology group from the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Uttar Pradesh or an examination recognized as equivalent by the Government, and must possess a two-year Livestock Extension Diploma course from a Veterinary University/Veterinary College established by law. Knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari script is also required. The age limit is 21 to 40 years as on 1 July of the relevant calendar year, with applicable relaxation for reserved categories.

The Main Examination will consist of one objective and multiple-choice question paper containing 100 questions for 100 marks with a duration of 2 hours (120 minutes). Each question carries one mark. There is negative marking of 25% of the marks prescribed for the question, i.e. one-fourth mark for each wrong answer. The paper is divided into Part-1 subject-related knowledge, Part-2 computer and information technology knowledge, and Part-3 general information related to Uttar Pradesh.
