BPSC TRE 4.0 Recruitment 2026
Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) 4.0 Recruitment 2026 notification for 32,388 government school teacher vacancies across Bihar. The recruitment covers Primary Teachers for Classes 1-5, Middle School Teachers for Classes 6-8, Secondary Teachers for Classes 9-10 and Senior Secondary Teachers for Classes 11-12. Eligible candidates with the prescribed educational qualifications along with CTET/BTET/STET requirements can apply online through the BPSC portal. The online application process is scheduled from 01 September 2026 to 30 September 2026, with fee payment allowed up to 29 September 2026.

Candidates must be Indian citizens and must possess the prescribed educational and teacher-training qualifications for the relevant teaching level. Primary and Middle School posts require the applicable CTET/BTET qualification, while Secondary and Higher Secondary posts require the applicable Bihar STET qualification. Minimum age is 18 years for Classes 1-5 and 6-8 posts and 21 years for Classes 9-10 and 11-12 posts.

BPSC TRE 4.0 uses a Preliminary Examination followed by a Main Examination. The Preliminary Examination consists of 150 objective questions for 150 marks in General Studies with 1/3 negative marking. The Main Examination carries 150 marks: Primary has 30-mark qualifying Language and 120-mark General Studies, while Classes 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12 have 30-mark qualifying Language, 40-mark General Studies and 80-mark concerned Subject sections.

BPSC has notified 32,388 School Teacher vacancies under TRE 4.0: 3,847 Primary Teachers for Classes 1-5, 8,563 Middle School Teachers for Classes 6-8, 3,877 Secondary Teachers for Classes 9-10 and 16,101 Senior Secondary Teachers for Classes 11-12.

Selection is based on the Preliminary Examination followed by the Main Examination. The Preliminary Examination is used for screening and candidates are shortlisted for the Main Examination according to the prescribed merit and vacancy ratio. Final merit is prepared from Main Examination marks; there is no interview.

The initial basic pay is ₹25,000 per month for Primary Teachers, ₹28,000 for Middle School Teachers, ₹31,000 for Secondary Teachers and ₹32,000 for Higher Secondary Teachers, along with admissible Bihar Government allowances and benefits.

The examination fee is ₹100 for each applicable teaching level/cadre. Candidates applying for more than one teaching level have to pay the prescribed fee separately for each level. An additional ₹200 biometric fee is applicable where Aadhaar number is not provided as identity proof, along with applicable payment gateway charges.

One Time Registration (OTR) is required before applying. Candidates must select only the teaching level and subject for which they satisfy the prescribed qualification and TET/STET requirements. The application must be completed online within the notified dates, and candidates should retain the submitted application and payment details. The vacancy figures may be revised by the Education Department/BPSC.
